Banner staff raise money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance

In May, six members of the Public Sector team at Banner took part in a Tough Mudder challenge to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity.

So far the team has raised an impressive £1,095, with plans to raise more money by completing a number of challenges this year.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity relies on the generosity of individuals and organisations to help save lives across Yorkshire.

To keep both of Yorkshire’s air ambulances in the air the charity needs to raise £12,000 per day.  This is equivalent to £4.4 million per year. As a rapid response air emergency service the Charity serves a population of approximately 5 million people across 4 million acres.

Eric Mountain, CCS National Account Manager at Banner said, “This is clearly a very important charity and one that is very close to our hearts.  We’re looking forward to completing more challenges to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charity this year.”

Joshua Eley, Internal Business Manager at Banner recently took advantage of the charity volunteering initiative available to all Banner employees.

The initiative gave Joshua the opportunity to take a day off work to volunteer at a charity of his choice.

Joshua spent the day with the charity, Kids for Kids, to film and produced a promotional video for the charity’s website.

Kids for Kids helps children in Darfur, Sudan, who live lives of inexcusable and unimaginable hardship by running a programme of projects that are tailored to each village.  The charity empowers local people, training them to run the projects for themselves and their community, so they can raise their families out of poverty long- term, and give their children hope of a better future.

“I’d been considering volunteering for a while so when I heard about the initiative I knew it was the perfect opportunity for me to give something back.  I’m an amateur film maker in my spare time so I used my skills to create a promotional video for the charity.  It was a fantastic experience for a very worthwhile cause.  I’m definitely keen to do more volunteer work in the future,” says Josh.
